The Trainer and Me

Welcome to My Blog

The Everest Base Camp trek was not on my list. I had travel adventures in my twenties, but none were a physical challenge.

As a woman in my fifties I had a list of concerns. Despite my husband’s efforts to reassure me, I flew to Kathmandu worried I wouldn’t return home. We’ve now trekked three times to the Everest region including to Gokyo and over Cho Las Pass.

Trekking to EBC is not just for the twenty-somethings. With training and an itinerary allowing enough acclimatisation days the fifties and sixties plus can take it in their stride. For me the training and preparation was as much a part of the journey as the trek itself.

My blog has our day to day trekking itineraries, information and tips and why I love the experience. Put it on your bucket list. But be warned it is hard to stop at one trek.
