Some of the Things I Liked about Trekking in the Khumbu Region
- momos
- the first day walking to Phakding
- walking everyday
- talking with Dawa in Lukla
- hearing the rush of the river
- hearing the yak bells
- the vista in Dingboche
- the feeling having climbed to the top of Kala Patthar
- seeing eagles soaring high above
- the boxes of papers in the monastery at Khumjung
- the hot shower in Dingboche
- hearing the stone masons and the noise of Namche from above the town
- hearing the bells from the donkey trains and watching and waiting for them to pass
- sitting at our meals at the end of the day with a sense of achievement
- water
- black tea
- everything yak

Hi Caroline, You are the only person who has commented on the image. I love the photo.They are boxes of old documents in the Khumjung Monastery. From memory all the monasteries had a similar wall of the boxes.I should research this. I have plans for a post on the religious elements along the track. The monasteries were so simple but rich in colour on the inside. Another one to get a crack on with….

I love the photo too and I’m glad to know a bit more about it, thanks! At first I thought it might have something to do with death (little niches of ashes or personal articles) but didn’t want to display my ignorance. Interesting stuff. I look forward to reading more when you get the chance (always another thing to write about and never enough time…I know!)

What a fun list. Everything yak. Does this relate to eating yak milk, butter, etc. or just seeing them?

Weeelll, you’ve probably caught me out a bit there Ali. We had yak’s cheese. |The yak bells were lovely.There were also the girls carrying yak dung and beautiful yak pastures. I really need to get onto the yak post, it’s in draft…Thanks for the comment and visit. Louise
